“I’m sorry, but one of the procedures being done today at the plant is extremely delicate, and possibly dangerous,” you tell the delegates. “Maybe tomorrow we can visit the plant. Right now I would like to give you a tour of the true wonder of our colony, our view of Earth.” You hope this will appease the group, but you see some of them writing notes in their personal com units.

Getting everyone outfitted and prepped on the basics of outdoor survival techniques takes longer than you planned, but you are finally ready. You decide to take the group out in one of the midrange transports. Luxury is not one of the transport’s attributes, but you find its ability to navigate over the roughest terrain truly impressive. Taking the transport a few kilometers out brings you to one of the small mountain projections on the Plain of Tycho. The view there makes you feel closer to Earth than any other place on Luna, but even farther away from the water and life that it created.

The delegates move like bouncing balls with no guidance. As soon as you get them out of the air lock, you round them up and direct them into the transport. Riding to the mountain, which is nicknamed Trent’s Peak after the colony’s first director, you catch some of the delegates looking with disbelief at the piles of rock you casually drive over.
